Team Togo Medical and Education Mission 2016

Richard and Katie joined the non-profit organisations, FEEDDS and SAFU on their third Team Togo Medical and Education Mission. FEEDDS is a non-profit, non-government organisation that believes that all people deserve an opportunity to live happy, healthy, and productive lives.

The team consisted of a group of international and local volunteers; many being well-qualified medical workers. Working for 2 days in each of 4 villages, the team were able to see over 1100 patients; providing free medical screening and medicine to the local Togolese. Katie was the clinic manager/receptionist, checking in all patients before they saw a trained medical practitioner, while Richard set up an education programme to teach English and hygiene to many local children. With Togo being a French speaking country, the lessons consisted of learning the basic of English, with some creative drawing and writing involved, as well as providing hygiene talks with every child being provided with a toothbrush.

The team were also able to provide a talk on the correct uses of antibiotics to trained doctors and visit an SOS orphanage in Lomé. Pen to Paper Ghana can’t thank the organisations enough for allowing them on the trip and look forward to future endeavours with them. Check out the video below to see what they got up to on the mission.
