Medical & Education Mission in togo

Each year, in partnership with the international organisation, Assist Africa and the local organisation, Save our Future (SAFU), Pen to Paper Ghana help to provide free medical care for people in rural villages of Togo and education programmes for local children in the summer holidays.

Due to financial difficulties, many patients don’t seek medical help for minor and even major health issues.  As a result, many small health conditions increase in severity and some become life-threatening. The team’s intention is to provide general health screenings for people in more isolated locations where medical care is limited.

Each year, we are able to work for 2 days in each of 4 remote villages, and we see over 1000 patients; providing free medical screening and medicine. With Togo being a French speaking country, the lessons consisted of learning the basic of English, with some creative drawing and writing involved, as well as providing hygiene talks with every child being provided with a toothbrush. In 2018, talks on menstural hygiene were also introduced.
